Head Over to the FBS Blog

My hiatus here on Medenwald for America continues, but if you need a fix head over to the FBS Blog. I couldn’t resist the idea of writing a post about Web Standards and Why Microsoft Still Doesn’t Get It.

Thanks for Taking My ID Seriously (Insert Sarcasm)

Two posts in one week? Don’t get your hopes up there Skipper, I just couldn’t resist posting this bit of irony. I walked to my bitterly cold mailbox yesterday and pulled this gem out. Alerus Financial, which I currently do no business with, has mailed me a lovely letter about how seriously they take identity theft. They’re taking action because your identity is important. What they fail to do, however, is get my name right on the mailer. In fact, that name is a combination of my name, my last initial as the middle initial, and the first name of someone who used to live in my neighborhood. Nice.

Quick Hits

Another giant hiatus from blog posting, another welcome back post that has little substance. Seems like 2007 will go down as the “year of ignoring the blog”.

Recently, I’ve had several requests asking me what I listen to on my iPod all day long. While my musical tastes are fairly eclectic, I do listen to the same basic podcasts. Every morning, I perform a sync and grab whatever new podcasts are available. Since it’s no secret, I thought it’d be interesting to post this for all to see. Enjoy!

  • ESPN: Pardon the Interruption - I’m completely addicted to the wit and humor of PTI. Kornheiser and Wilbon are a wonderful team. I just wish they’d publish the video instead of just the audio.
  • Real Time with Bill Maher - Don’t need HBO to get the audio from Real Time. I used to enjoy Politically Incorrect on ABC, so this was a natural extension. Also, New Rules are great.
  • NBC Nightly News - Standard fix of big media news, brought to you in video on a daily basis.
  • this WEEK in TECH - The definitive technology podcast. Listen to Leo and the gang digest a week’s worth of tech headlines. I used to listen to MacBreak Weekly, but not even I can digest 90+ minutes of Mac whining.
  • TEDTalks - Someday I’d love to go to TED. The conference seems to be a mind-blowing experience. They place many passionate, brilliant, articulate people in one conference and let them share their ideas. The topics are quite diverse, but you’d be surprised what becomes interesting after 5 minutes.
  • The ON Network: Golf Tips with Joe Beck - The production value of this video podcast is quite good, broadcasting in HD and everything. The tips are nothing spectacular, but it’s quite well put together.
  • Tiki Bar TV - Guilt pleasure. These guys have been putting this cheesy podcast out for years, I just can’t bring myself to unsubscribe.

By the way, if you’re interested in more frequent Brandon updates, best to catch me on Facebook.

Quick Hits

On Thursday, the Medenwald for America blog officially turns 2 years old. Looking back at the Archives, it’s almost hard to believe I actually posted 12 times in the first 30 days I blogged. Now, if I get one post out a month it’s an accomplishment. Best laid plans…

This post is going to be a little product heavy. Over the past 30 days I managed to get my hands on all kinds of toys, the biggest of which being the iPhone and my new Drobo.

Ok, on with the Quick Hits.

10 Signs You’re Obsessed with the iPhone

July 2, 2007 on 5:49 pm | In Current Events | 4 Comments

Full Disclosure: I have officially become obsessed with the iPhone. I don’t own an iPhone, I can’t find service for an iPhone, there’s probably no one within 50 miles who owns an iPhone, and yet I’m completely obsessed. I’ve spent roughly 5 hours of my life looking for a crazy loophole that will allow me to buy an iPhone. So far, no such luck. To all of those others who are stuck in the AT&T void of death and despair that is North Dakota, I’d like to say that you’re not alone.
